“Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are bringing women’s issues to the forefront of the HIV/AIDS crisis. With one recording artist who hit the music industry at the beginning of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, and another who is explosively popular with young people today, they represent different generations who are equally affected by this disease, with both helping to spread the message of the power of one lipstick,” said John Demsey, Group President, Estee Lauder Companies and Chairman, M•A•C AIDS Fund.

Big congratulations are in order for Lady Gaga who just landed on the Diamond Highway today (2-26-10). Her debut album The Fame has sold over 10,000,000 copies worldwide since its release in 2008. This is a major compliment for Gaga as in today’s climate music doesn’t sell. It’s mostly stolen. Her new album The Fame Monster is already Double Platinum, so her success continues to grow and grow. Way to go, Gaga!

"To have this lipstick as a reminder in your purse, that when your man is laying naked in bed, you go into the bathroom, you put your lipstick on, and you bring a condom out with you. There are no exceptions. This idea of negotiation before intercourse is this kind of ridiculous thing in the age that we're living in. I would say never, but you must be in a loving, monogamous relationship or married. We're not in an age when you can have irresponsible, condom-less sex." WATCH YOUTUBE SENSATION SAM TSUI SING HIS FAMOUS MICHAEL JACKSON MEDLEY ON OPRAH 2-22-10. 12 PHOTOS PICTURES IMAGES! 10 SAM TSUI VIDEOS PRODUCED BY KURT HUGO SCHNEIDER! February 24, 2010. On Monday, February 22, 2010, Oprah Winfrey hosted a show called “Incredible Feats” from an edible set made entirely from pure Lady Godiva Chocolate. Masterful artists Larry Abel and Raymond McAllister used more than 15,000 pieces of chocolate to construct this incredible, delectable design. This feat took more than 1,400 man hours to complete.

Among the acts on the “Incredible Feats” show was a production of seven Sam Tsui “clones” singing a Michael Jackson medley put together by two tech-savvy Yale University students, Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider. Oprah called the Michael Jackson video “digital magic.”

What started as dorm room fun is now a raging Internet sensation, with over five millions YouTube hits. It all began one evening when Kurt was planning to record a duet with Sam and a female singer, but the woman chickened out at the last minute.
Picture of Oprah's February 22, 2010, "Incredible Feats" set where everything is made of Lady Godiva Chocolates. No word on who got to devour the goodies!
Instead of canceling the recording, Kurt Schneider suggested that Sam Tsui sing every part separately. Then, they used some digital enhancements to piece it together into a creative illusion. Soon after, Sam and Kurt did a medley of Michael Jackson's hits and the rest is history!

PLUS WATCH GAGA’S NEW OPENING ACT, ALPHABEAT, PERFORM HOLE IN MY HEART ON THE TOUR AND IN THEIR NEW VIDEO! February 19, 2010. We tried to ignore the new Lady Gaga European Monster Ball Tour that kicked off in Manchester England Thursday, February 18, 2010, thinking it was more of the same, but once we saw the giant animated monster and heard her new songs, we decided we had no choice but to publish a new post about the talented volatile star who continues to metamorphose with the fury of a scorned lover.
Enjoy this Lady Gaga Manchester Monster Ball Slide Show. 2-18-10:
It took a lot of work to find the best videos and tweak the pictures, but we think it was well worth the sweat and tears. The result is a free Monster Ball Tour concert with tons of beautiful videos and photos, all on a single page for your convenience!
Picture of Lady Gaga dressed in black and white vertical stripes performing "Money Honey" while playing a key-board during her UK Monster Ball Tour Concert in the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N.) Arena Thursday night. 2-18-10 photo.
The new Queen of Pop completely revamped her Monster Ball Tour for Europe and split the show into four acts. Thursday night there were 15 costume changes as Gaga ran through her old hits including “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Paparazzi,” and “Bad Romance,” as well as some new songs, including “Vanity,” “Telephone,” “Brown Eyes,” and “Glitter and Grease.”
Image of Lady Gaga at her Manchester Monster Ball Concert singing the song from her next video, "Telephone," which is a collaboration with Beyonce. It has already been shot and should premiere soon. We presume the stripes on her body suit represent attire suitable for prison, which is where the video takes place. 2-18-10 photo.
However the concert suffered from a few minor technical hitches on the first night which caused it to run over by 30 minutes. According to reliable reports, Gaga has spent more than £1 million on the stage set, costumes and props.

Earlier this week she spoke to Capital FM about the show, saying: “The show is a musical, it's not just a pop show, there are lines and a score—there's a lot of music that you haven't heard before.” Watch all the amazing videos at the base of this post, ogle all the cool photos, and enjoy the entire concert—free! You’re welcome!

It is a brave artist that trashes her stage show between legs of her first arena tour, but Lady Gaga is nothing if not a perfectionist and her gamble just about pays off on the first date of this European run.
Image of Lady Gaga in straight blonde hair with glittered appliques under her eyes, singing "Just Dance" at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, England, during her first European Monster Ball Tour Concert. 2-18-10 photo.
Over the winter months, the US star's Monster Ball has wowed North American crowds, only for Gaga to try a different tack that she described on MTV as "more of a musical than a concert."

Not that Stephen Sondheim need suffer any sleepless nights – this has more in common with a burlesque spectacle. Monster Ball is the summation of Gaga's pop confection, extrapolating her outlandish fashion sense into a whole stage show. Her production team, Haus of Gaga, have imposed their own inner stage on the arena circuit, within which a story supposedly unfolds – the star getting lost on her way to the party.
Image of Lady Gaga performing "So Happy I Could Die" during her Monster Ball Tour Concert in Manchester on a raised platform high in the air, wearing billowy cotton-like hair and a leather-adorned brown hoop skirt. 2-18-10 photo.
This, though, is mere window dressing for the core of Gaga's show – her unremitting party soundtrack. Even before she won three Brits on Tuesday night, this tour already had the feel of a victory procession. Garnering most awards at the annual music bash formed just the icing on the many-tiered cake of her success. She has made 2009 her own, shifting four million copies of debut album The Fame while outgunning the already established Lily Allen and newcomers Florence and The Machine and La Roux.
Photo of Lady Gaga singing "Just Dance" in straight blonde hair, black ankle-high boots, and a black leather corset Thursday night at the Manchester Monster Ball Tour. 2-18-10 image.
Gaga has achieved four number ones from her album by sticking to a tried and tested template of r'n'b beats with catchy pop hooks, with little evidence of the performance artist struggling to make an impact in New York clubs. While the hits are instantly recognisable, so has been her penchant for over-sized knickers and costumes that have grown more outlandish as her profile grew. Maybe such instant recognizability has come too easy for Stefani Germanotta, so Monster Ball's aim is to cement her arty credentials.
Picture of Lady Gaga at her Manchester England Monster Ball performing her new song "Glitter and Grease" in a car replicated from her "Telephone" video shoot. February 18, 2010 photo.
Her show is divided into acts, tableaux beginning with polished chrome scaffolding to represent the film set for a post-apocalyptic cityscape where Pamela Anderson might run a bar. Videos between the set and costume changes fail to fill the time necessary, leaving awkward longeurs, though the cast are expert enough to cope. Band and dancers form a constant whirl of New York movement and when one loses his helmet, he reaches down and replaces it one swift movement.
Picture of Lady Gaga singing her new song "Glitter and Grease" during the first leg of her Manchester England Monster Ball Tour Concert Thursday evening. February 18, 2010 photo.
Gaga herself is on imperious form, displaying a powerful singing voice not readily apparent on the album. She is full-throated on the pumping anthems with an underlay of Big Apple grit. A soulful flavour comes through when she sits behind the piano for "Speechless", one of the darker tracks unveiled on the Fame Monster deluxe set of her album that at least provides some reasoning for the new set up. "This is for my father," she says cuttingly, "who loves Johnny Walker more than he loves me."
Picture of Lady Gaga in straight platinum blonde hair, black ankle boots, and a sparkly leather corset, performing "Dance in the Dark" during the opening of her European Monster Ball Tour in Manchester. 2-18-10 photo.
When Gaga finally reaches the Monster Ball, she discovers it is inhabited by a 20ft tentacled monster. An utterly gobsmacking finale, that might even form a commentary on her swift rise to fame. END
From BBC News (the British Broadcasting Company) comes this review: The Monster Ball Meets Manchester, by Mark Savage, BBC News Entertainment Reporter. Published February 19, 2010. Among other things, they said, “A 40-foot animatronic sea monster, 15 costume changes, and a grand piano burning to pieces in the middle of the stage—you certainly get what you pay for at a Lady Gaga concert . . . It was a hugely ambitious, terrifyingly loud show.” Read the entire article below (after the image):

A 40-foot animatronic sea monster, 15 costume changes and a grand piano burning to pieces n the middle of the stage - you certainly get what you pay for at a Lady Gaga concert.
Image of Lady Gaga and her dancers performing her first big hit, "Just Dance," at the Manchester Monster Ball Thursday. 2-10-10 photo.
The 23-year-old pop phenomenon played the first night of her self-styled "electro opera" in Manchester on Thursday. The tour, which travels around the UK and Ireland for the next couple of weeks, is dubbed The Monster Ball. But there's nothing to be frightened of - except tinnitus.
Nice closeup photo of Lady Gaga at the Manchester Monster Ball Tour Concert doing her newest song, "Glitter and Grease." 2-18-10 picture.
It was a hugely ambitious, terrifyingly loud show, spread over four acts and held together by a "narrative" about Gaga and her dancer friends trying to get to a party. Impressively, the entire spectacle was put together in just four weeks. The singer told fans at the MEN arena: "We were doing another show in the United States... but I got very bored, so I threw it away."
Image of Lady Gaga sitting atop the Rolls Royce while singing "Glitter and Grease" during the first concert of her UK Monster Ball Tour. February 18, 1010 photo.
In fact, the production was so last-minute that the star was still on stage adding the finishing touches just half an hour before the doors opened. Inevitably, then, the first night didn't run entirely smoothly.
Lighting cues were missed, the sound mix wasn't properly balanced and the show over-ran by 30 minutes, leaving some of the audience stranded in a cold and snowy Manchester. But nearly all 23,000 of them stayed on to the bitter end - because, make no mistake, this was a sight to behold.
Picture of Lady Gaga singing another new oh-so-sweet ballad, "Brown Eyes," at the Manchester Monster Ball. Among the lines are, "You selfish mothrf***er and your bullsh*t brown eyes!" 2-18-10 photo.
The show opened with Dance in the Dark - the song she played at the Brits on Tuesday - with Gaga gyrating on a set she appeared to have borrowed from a Gotham City production of West Side Story.
Picture of Lady Gaga premiering another brand new song, "Vanity," after explaining what the Monster Ball Tour is all about. 2-18-10 photo.
Dressed in a futuristic, angular, glitterball suit, she descended the fire escape, poked around in the bonnet of a dilapidated green Rolls Royce and teased the audience with a snippet of a new song, Glitter and Grease.
Image of Lady Gaga at her Manchester Monster Ball Concert singing "Just Dance" in a long platinum blonde wig, black leather corset, and ankle-high black boots. 2-18-10 picture.
But things only really came to life with Just Dance, her first UK number one, and the first big sing-along of the night. From there, the pace never really let up.
Photo of Lady Gaga performing "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" with her colorful dancers on the runway of her Manchester Monster Ball Tour concert Thursday night. February 18, 2010 image.
A pounding, staccato Love Game was performed inside a New York subway carriage, while Lennon-esque ballad Brown Eyes saw Gaga hammering the life out of a steampunk-inspired grand piano.

The costume changes came thick and fast, often within the course of a single song. They were, for practicality's sake, more leotard-based than some of the star's more outrageous creations - but there were still a few eye-popping moments.

By their very nature, the garments defied description. But here's an attempt to encapsulate three of them: Muppet Wonder Woman; Joan Collins Jedi Nun; Jellyfish bride humidity disaster area. The problem with the frocks, however, was that they obscured the musician hiding beneath them.

The most electrifying moments of the night came when plain old Stefani Germanotta from New York sat behind the piano and displayed some good old-fashioned musicianship. The emotional high-point was Speechless, a song she wrote for her father - "about how he loves Johnny Walker just a little bit more than he loves me."
Picture of Lady Gaga and her dancers at the MEN Arena Monster Ball Concert in Manchester performing "Teeth." 2-18-10 image.
It was a disarmingly tender performance, and quite at odds with everything that came before or after. But then it is easy to forget that Gaga has only been doing this for 18 months. She has established herself so firmly in the public consciousness that she already has an air of permanence.
Image of Lady Gaga singing "Dance in the Dark" during her Monster Ball Tour Concert in the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N.) Arena Thursday night. 2-18-10 photo.
The expectations for this, her first headline tour in the UK, were up there with Madonna - who has been doing it for 25 years but who, since Tuesday, has one less Brit award. That Gaga's grand, dynamic show lived up to that challenge was testament to her vision and ambition - but surely it must be bankrupting her?
Photo of Lady Gaga performing "Glitter and Grease" while working on her Rolls Royce engine on the Monster Ball stage in Manchester England. 2-18-10 picture.
Take, for example, the folly of the fish creature - a multi-limbed, pneumatically-operated beast from the depths of the sea that appeared for just three minutes, mauling Lady Gaga as she attempted to perform Paparazzi. It wasn't entirely clear why this was happening, or what relevance it had to the song. But it must have seemed like a good idea to someone (presumably not the tour accountant).

Gaga survived the attack by the way, with just enough energy for a stomping, full-hearted rendition of Bad Romance, which sent the audience chanting "Ga, ga, ooh-la-la" into the chilly evening. Except for one fan, who paused to tell the BBC her night had been "dead weird, but nice."

Lady Gaga isn't shy about sex. In fact, the pop star is pretty clear in her message: When her little monsters do it, they should be safe about it. Not only has she recently joined forces with Cyndi Lauper and MAC for their MAC AIDS Fund's VIVA Glam campaign (which donates 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of lipstick and lip gloss to the global fight against AIDS and HIV), she also has found another cause to call her own.

This news just came off the pike: Lady Gaga is working with designer Jeremy Scott to let her fans know that they should wear condoms—especially ones designed by Scott in association with Proper Attire. "It’s not complicated, just a fashion statement," Lady Gaga said in a press release about the collaboration. "Everybody wrap it up with Jeremy Scott for Proper Attire condoms." The condoms come in three varieties (studded, ribbed and sheer), and proceeds from sales will benefit Planned Parenthood. The condoms will be sold at Opening Ceremony stores and online at Opening Ceremony.com and Proper Attire.

A frontline veteran of the 1969 Gay Revolution, I worship the sun on fifteen acres in the Oklahoma woods. When I'm not floating in my pool, I care for heirloom varieties of turkeys, guineas, chickens, peafowl, guppies, and wildflowers. During the mid sixties, I was Feature Editor of my high school newspaper, The Ramrod, three years in a row. During the late sixties, I wrote for the Berkeley Barb, the Berkeley Tribe, and San Francisco’s Vector magazine. After running a Denver pet store for 28 years, I returned to writing full time in 2000 and received numerous awards for my novels, memoirs, poems, short stories, and essays.
My idols are Tennessee Williams, William Goldman, and Marc Cherry. Torquere Press debuted my premier e-novel, The Happy Campers in 2005-2006. My San Francisco memoir, BEYOND NORMAL: The Birth of Gay Pride is now available as an iBook, eBook, or a paperback (http://booklocker.com/books/5090.html). Lambda Literary Award Finalist! Although I'm fully aware that love is a lie, after having had two long-term lovers drive me crazy and vice versa, I am most anxious for the next fairy tale to begin. I'm fond of my Chihuahua, but don’t wish to marry him. (Too hairy.)
