GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS COMPLETE LIST! JANE LYNCH, GEORGE CLOONEY VIDEOS, PHOTOS! UP IN THE AIR, GLEE TRAILERS! A GAY YEAR OF DRAMA and COMEDY!

December 16, 2009.
Nominations for the 67th annual Golden Globes were announced Tuesday morning and topping the list is the movie Up in the Air, with six nods. George Clooney, who stars in the film, is up for best performance by an actor in a drama for his role as a corporate down-sizer, and costars Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga were both nominated for best supporting actress. The movie is also up for best drama of the year, as well as best director for Jason Reitman and best screenplay.

In Up and Away, George Clooney plays Ryan Bingham, a 35 year old a career transition counselor at a Denver-based management consulting company, Integrated Strategic Management (ISM). Ryan travels around the country to terminate corporate employees. He does not have a personal life and he numbs himself with sex, booze and drugs. His life on the road comes to a halt when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he’s worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.

Up in the Air already won the National Board of Review's Best Film of the Year award. Check out the trailer and clip at the bottom of this post.

Joining Up in the Air in the best dramatic film category are Avatar, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, and Precious.

Directed by openly gay Lee Daniels, the film Precious, was a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival. The tale of life in 1980s Harlem received three Golden Globe nominations, including best dramatic film, best actress in a drama for Gabourey Sidibe, and supporting actress for Mo'Nique. However, the film was snubbed in the best director and screenplay categories.

Colin Firth, who “plays” gay in A Single Man, the directorial debut of fashion designer Tom Ford, will compete for best actor in a drama with George Clooney for Up in the Air, Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart, Morgan Freeman for Invictus, and Tobey Maguire for Brothers. Matt Damon, a double nominee, earned a best actor in a comedy nod for The Informant! and supporting actor for Invictus in the dramatic category.

Avatar, which opens Friday, and Inglourious Basterds which strars Brad Pitt (who was snubbed) earned four nods each. The Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker, which has been chalking up critical praise, earned three, though none of its actors received nominations.

The musical Nine, which also opens in limited release Friday, scored five nominations. Other nominees for best comedy/musical motion picture are (500) Days of Summer, The Hangover, It's Complicated, and Julie & Julia.

The Disney/Pixar animated hit Up earned a nod in the category of best animated film, along with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and The Princess and the Frog.

In television, Glee took four nominations, including best comedy series, best actor for Matthew Morrison, best actress for Lea Michele, and best supporting actress for out gay actress/comedienne Jane Lynch. In the comedy series category, Glee will face off against another gay hit, Modern Family, as well as the gay-friendly series 30 Rock, Entourage, and The Office. True Blood, Dexter, Mad Men, House, and Big Love will compete for best dramatic TV series.
