The accolades for Adam Lambert continue to come in faster than we can post them. The latest is After Elton’s 2009 LGBT Visibility Award for Musician of the Year. More about Adam Lambert tributes after we talk about his awesome appearance on The Jay Leno Show Monday night, which boosted Jay's ratings by nearly one million viewers!

Adam Lambert talked to Jay Leno about “plucking,” his family, how life has changed since he got his big break on American Idol, and the fall-out from the American Music Awards (AMAs), although for once, the AMAs didn’t dominate the conversation.

Adam also put to rest a couple of rumors floating around: He has NOT started a make-up line, although Jay stated matter-of-factly that he himself would buy the eyeliner (guy-liner)! Adam also said he wanted people to know he and his father are on good terms.

After the enlightening interview, Adam gave us an awesome performance of his new hit, “Whataya Want From Me” from his premiere album CD For Your Entertainment. Watch both the conversation and the performance in undeletable videos at the bottom of this post.

Here are a few highlights from the interview:

"My father was rumored to be mortified by what I did at the 'American Music Awards' and that we're not speaking,” Adam Lambert said. “That was a rumor . . . I think Bill O'Reilly perpetuated that. Lovely man. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. My dad and I were laughing about it."

"I'm hanging on white knuckles,” Adam told Jay. “It's a good ride. I mean how hasn't life changed? It's wild. I have people that are so supportive of me that are buying the CD."

The singer also talked about what he did before his career finally took off. "I worked at Starbucks when I was 16. It was all right. I liked meeting new people. I used to come home and I stunk of coffee beans and it was awful."

Lambert explained his short stint at college. "My parents have always been really supportive like when I decided to drop out of college after five weeks. I thought to myself I don't want to learn this in a classroom. But my parents were always there for me and I know they're very proud."

Adam also talked about his younger brother, noting that he did manage to graduate school. "You know he's a little artistic," Adam said. "He just graduated college. He was a political science major. He's a great writer. He's a lot more cynical than I am, but he's funny. He's really smart."

Lambert ended his Leno appearance with a heartfelt performance of his latest single "Whattya Want From Me."

Earlier this month, the OUTMusic Awards (OMAs) returned from a year's hiatus to name Adam Lambert “LOGO's Next Gay Icon of 2009” at the Grand Ballroom in Webster Hall, New York City. Funny, I thought he already won that title just by living!

AfterElton.com (a LOGO TV blog) just awarded Adam Lambert the 2009 Visibility Award for Musician of the Year! They had this to say: “How could it be otherwise? In the past year, so much has happened, Adam-wise, that it’s easy to take it all for granted. Still, the end result is a wildly successful, proudly gay man in the very peak of his musical career.”

“Not everyone agrees with the choices Adam has made with his new-found fame,” After Elton said, “But love him or hate him, not since Rock Hudson (and maybe not even then) has there been a greater step forward in terms of gay male visibility.”

AfterElton gave Lady Gaga Honorable Mention: “If anyone could have toppled Lambert from his perch atop this category, it would’ve been the ever-fascinating Lady Gaga (she’s like Madonna with a brain!). There’s also room in our hearts for Mika, who not only released an under-appreciated CD, The Boy Who Knew Too Much, but also finally came out as bisexual.”

Adam Lambert has been slated to ring in the decade at a hot Red Cross West Coast Benefit concert on New Year’s Eve, so now ABC and Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve, who cancelled him after the AMAs, can suck it! The event, called GRIDLOCK New Year’s Eve 2010 will be held at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. It's being produced and presented by Matthew Gavin Enterprises, TLK Fusion, Hollywood Studios International and Paramount Rocks.
