Lady Gaga has to be the busiest woman in show business. Just as her latest hit single, “Bad Romance,” attained the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 40 Pop Chart, and her new album The Fame Monster soared to the top of the iTunes best-selling albums list, Lady Gaga was Named Creative Director for the new Specialty Line of Polaroid Imaging Products, as well as a key player with Bono in the fight against AIDS/HIV, all while she's in the middle of a sold-out concert tour, The Monster Ball. She has the distinction of being the only artist in Billboard’s history to have her first five singles rise to the number one spot, and incredibly she has achieved it within a year.
PLR IP Holdings, LLC, owners of the Polaroid™ brand, announced Tuesday, January 5, 2010, the multi-year strategic joint venture with Lady Gaga. She will serve as Creative Director for a specialty line of Polaroid Imaging products.

In related news, LADY GAGA has joined forces with Bono to help combat AIDS/HIV. She’s designed her own set of headphones to raise funds for his RED campaign. The U2 front man launched the charity product range in 2006, previously working with rapper Dr. Dre to make his own set of earpieces.

Bono, who recently signed a deal with sportswear company Nike to create red shoelaces, said this about enlisting Lady Gaga to help boost their fundraising efforts, “This is a very big day for everyone involved in the fight against AIDS. Lady Gaga is no stranger to magazine covers, but the star will be given yet another makeover when she appears in the new comic book FAME, from Bluewater Comics. Set to be the first in a series of releases looking at today’s top celebrities, the magazine, which has the same name as Lady Gaga’s chart-topping album, is also set to feature Robert Pattinson, 50 Cent, David Beckham, and Taylor Swift. The comic book will be structured in a similar format to Bluewater's Female Force books and will be released this coming May for Free Comic Book Day.

This is not the first time that Gaga has been featured in a printed cartoon book. Last fall, she starred in her very own comic entitled Lady Saga, but it was only available through Marc Jacobs retailers.

Bluewater president Darren G. Davis noted the purpose of the new magazine is to introduce comic books to audiences that normally would not read them. “Over the past year we saw an opportunity to broaden the scope of who reads comics,” said Davis. “There were many who had never picked up a graphic novel or comic book that bought our biography titles like Female Force and Political Power. FAME is the natural extension of that trend.”

An English newspaper noted, “This year looks set to be huge for the New York native as she clinched the first number one single of the decade in England with her hit “Bad Romance” and is set to head out on tour around the UK this year.”
Billboard just reported that Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” is the number one song on the Top 40 American Pop Chart as well. The single is also listed on their Radio Songs, Digital Songs, and Hot 100 Charts as a close number 2. And Lady Gaga’s second album, The Fame Monster just reached the very top of the Pop Albums Chart.

Lady Gaga becomes the first artist in the chart’s history to send their first five singles to the #1 spot, and remarkably she has done so in less than a year. “Bad Romance” is Gaga’s first hit from her second album, The Fame Monster. Her debut album, The Fame, has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, and her singles have sold an astounding 35 million digital copies as well. The album is the home to her previous #1 hits (“Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “LoveGame,” and “Paparazzi”.)

Said Lady Gaga on her website, “Just six months ago, ‘Bad Romance’ was nothing but a dream, a recurring melody, a lyric hidden on a napkin on my tour bus. Now, it's my fifth #1 record, and a reminder to fans to always follow their dreams. I would like to thank all my beautiful little monsters and my incredibly supportive team for the most memorable year of my life. To have had such a phenomenal reception to my second album, The Fame Monster, is life-changing. I'm so happy I could die.”
Lady Gaga won two awards Wednesday night at the Peoples Choice Awards. She managed to scoop Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Breakout Music Artist. She tweeted this to her followers: "@ladygaga thank you to all my fans for voting for me! we won 2 people's choice awards little monsters!"

Sharon Stone, Meryl Streep, Vanessa Redgrave, Carine Roitfeld, Diane von Furstenberg, and Donna Karan are on the guest list. Sir Elton John and David Furnish will be honored at the festivities, as will Louis Vuitton’s chairman and chief executive officer Yves Carcelle. Rufus Wainwright will perform a portion of songs from his re-creation of the Judy Garland Carnegie Hall concert. Could the event be any gayer? Or any more fun?

The New York Times recently interviewed Lady Gaga’s chief designer in an article entitled, “Meet Mr. Gaga, The Stylist Nicola Formichetti.” Author Marcus Chang said: “Whether or not you know him by name, you’ll recognize Nicola Formichetti by his aggressively modern looks (Lady Gaga’s metal orb, anyone?). When it comes to his personal style, Formichetti attributes his unrestricted creativity to his multicultural upbringing, which was shared between Italy and Japan.

Now 32, Nicola lives in New York, London and Tokyo, and keeps himself busy working as the creative director of the London magazine Dazed and Confused, the fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan and as a stylist for advertising campaigns for Uniqlo, Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen, to name just a few. Before kicking off Lady Gaga’s “Monster Ball” tour in Montreal, we caught up with Formichetti to ask him about his career, inspirations and what it’s like to work with Gaga.”

Said Chang, “Your work with Lady Gaga has brought you a tremendous amount of recognition. The ‘Bad Romance’ video even gets played in New York City taxis. How did you two start working together, and what has it been like?”

Formichetti answered, “I first met her at a photo shoot for V Magazine. It was an instant love. I had always stayed away from celebrity and musicians before, but she was so different. Instantly we understood each other completely. We started working naturally—all the videos, shows, tours, etc. She has such an amazing team around her, too, especially her creative director, Matthew Williams."

Lady Gaga took to Twitter and Facebook on January 6th, with an apologetic statement to her fans about the recent venue changes on the Monster Ball Tour. For those who don’t know, some places and dates, most notably in Chicago, were changed because the stage couldn’t hold the production. Fans lost seats and were told they had to purchase brand new tickets.
Picture of a page from the January 2010 issue of 944. Entitled "Sound and Vision," it states, "Just in time to Take Music to its Future Dimensions, the Diva Lady Gaga Ushers in the Next Decade." Click photo to enlarge
Here is what Lady Gaga said about the changes: “To my little monsters, I am so sick over the 2 venues that were moved for Monsterball, and am sincerely sorry to all my fans who lost seats. A serious error was made by my production staff, and it is so unfair to you, who are so loyal. My show was not designed to fit in this venue. The Monsterball was moved so we could still perform, not to sell more tickets. I promise to make it up to you, you are everything to mexgaga.”

Gaganews.com is reporting The Monster Ball Tour has lost over four million dollars so far. “Expensive outfits and stage props, such as an alleged $100,000 giant bathtub, are pushing the overheads up on the North American leg of the jaunt meaning the singer is yet to make any profit,” they said. “It’s claimed that Gaga’s self-proclaimed ‘ostentatious’ tour has lost almost $4million so far and it may be some time before she’s in the black.”
Image of a page from the January 2010 issue of 944 Magazine with an article about Lady Gaga that says, in part, "There's nobody like me and there never was . . . Their source said: “Lady Gaga's gigs are losing money hand over fist because they’ve spent a fortune on pricey costumes, technical equipment and elaborate set designs. She spent £500,000 on one stage alone. But Lady Gaga gets what Lady Gaga wants. Her wardrobe is huge and she wants to shock – and that costs serious money.”

Lady Gaga’s spokesperson did not deny the claims when talking to England’s The Sun. “I can’t comment on figures but it wouldn’t be a surprise,” the representative said. “Gaga puts everything into her live shows and she doesn’t care about the financial side of things. I wouldn’t want to be her accountant.”

Religious fundamentalist hatemonger Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas called off his highly-publicized protest against Lady Gaga, citing weather as the reason. He then tried to turn it around by saying it was God’s will, along with the Almighty’s plan to destroy America and homosexuals. His tiny Westboro Baptist Church, which has less than sixty members (consisting mostly of inbred relatives), explained via an e-mail message why he canceled their protest against the "Godless whore."
The illiterate Phelps said: “YES - it is canceled because of the lack of capacity to travel. YAY! Our God doeth all things well. He took that Parody and the words from his people and he dropped them ALL OVER THIS WORLD and then when it came time to make that trip, he shut up this country so they could hold the picket alone and do the work for us. :) YAY!”
Picture of a page from the Max Italy Magazine with an article about Lady Gaga. Click photo to enlarge if you understand Italian. We've translated part of it. Scroll down to read.
Phelps tried to justify his chickening out through scripture: “Here is what he did: Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. God is knocking the crap out of this country and all the while he is continuing to give us great and effectual doors of utterance because the time is so very, very short - the destruction of this nation is IMMINENT!! YAY!!”
Hoping to gain Fame of her own, Phelps granddaughter released a video parody of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” but I refuse to embed it on this website because we fear giving face to it’s message of hate and profanity would condemn us to burn in hell for all eternity and the last thing we want to do is spend infinity with the Fred Phelps clan.
UPDATE! Scroll down to watch a video of Lady Gaga responding to Fred Phelps in St Louis. "Here at the Monster Ball, we preach love and not hate . . .."

Lady Gaga is a worldwide phenomenon, as the following interview excerpts from the magazine Max Italian, December 2009, will attest, with apologies for the Google translation.
“Keeping your feet on the ground is not my style,” Lady Gaga said. “Only now that are completely isolated in my box of madness I can really do whatever I want. For example, create a fantasy world where people travel without a passport. Or perform on a stage with a bikini china and become the news of the day."
Picture of Lady Gaga in the Italian Kiss Me! magazine with an article entitled, "Who's That Girl?" Click photo to enlarge.
For this twenty-three year-old resident of New York, dressing is a very serious matter. "A kind of performance art that does not distract at all from the music. However, when I donned the famous green coat of Kermit the Frog, with the frogs that cover my boobs, I did it to protest against those who still wear fur. Not because I'm silly."
The article continued: Joanne Stefani Angelina Germanotta (Lady Gaga’s real name) is a genius, and a record-breaking phenomenon. She is the first singer in 17 years, since the beginning of the Billboard chart, to have four No. 1 singles in a row (“Just Dance,” “Poker Face ,” “LoveGame” and “Paparazzi”).
Photo of a page from Kiss Me! January 2010 with an article illustrating Lady Gaga's Top Ten Outfits, not an easy task, we must say! Click picture to enlarge.
Said Gaga, "At first the record companies claimed that my CD was not pop enough. It's too electronic and will not work, they complained." The rest is history. Eight million people bought The Fame, which has also had 35 million downloads of its singles. Thus, within less than a year, Lady Gaga’s record company, Interscope, has learned its lesson and published The Fame Monster, a deluxe version of the first album with eight previously unreleased songs (and even a lock of hair as a gift).

"Each song represents all the demons that I faced,” Lady Gaga told Max Italy. “When I became famous I realized that I had the fear of death, alcohol, drugs, loneliness and truth. So I've written about it all and put the resulting songs on my records.”

Max went on: Lady Gaga is a good girl Italian-American with roots in Palermo. She grew up living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where her parents sent her to the Convent of the Sacred Heart, the same school attended by Caroline Kennedy and Paris and Nicky Hilton. "The sisters forced me to repress my feelings for too long while the kids teased me because I was different. When I discovered music and art, it was true liberation."

Lady Gaga also explained her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs): "I was looking for something to represent the death of celebrity, the end of the idolized blondes. It was like staging a painting of Marilyn Monroe with a bottle of pills in hand."
"They say that everything has already been done, but I think the trick is to invent something new—to put together things that others have not yet thought of."

Max Italy magazine said Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes (a.k.a. Lola), goes mad for Lady Gaga. They speculated Lourdes probably encourgaged Madonna to appear on Saturday Night Live (SNL) with Gaga. "We're both Italian-Americans, we made it in New York and became famous after dying our hair blonde," reflected the once ugly duckling. “Every day I kill to look real." Again, we apologize for the translation—or not. Maybe it made the interview more interesting!
It could have been one of the most interesting musical hookups in pop history. According to a new interview at MTV.com with Michael Jackson's choreographer, Travis Payne, the late King of Pop was a big fan of Lady Gaga and had tried to set up a meeting to discuss a possible joint project.

The revelation comes from a video posted on December 30 via YouTube by Amsterdam-based producer/actor Raffles van Exel, who asks Payne which artists MJ was interested in collaborating with before his death last June.
"I gave him a short wish list, including Janet, of course, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Celine Dion, Sting, Seal, Bono, and Tina Turner. We talked about all these people that I thought were cool but that he liked."
Final photo from England's Shout Magazine talking about Lady Gaga's fashions, "studs and dogtooth patterns" in particular. Click picture to enlarge.
Then, Payne said he asked Jackson if there was anyone else he wanted to reach out to. "He goes, 'Lady Gaga.' I go, 'Really?' He goes, 'Yeah.' He literally told me, 'You gotta get into her. She's good.' So, I started listening to her music more and going on YouTube and looking at her performances, and I was like, 'He's right.' "
Payne said that last November, he got a call from Lady Gaga and told her the story about the conversation with Jackson. "She got moved by it," he recalled. But a spokesperson for Gaga could not be reached for comment about Payne's claims.
