We have the complete videos of Gaga’s Oprah Show performance and the extended interview wherein she tells Oprah that her Video Music Awards (VMAs) act and outfit was a social commentary about Princess Diana’s death, while her Kermit the Frog dress was a protest against the use of fur in fashion.

“The inspiration comes naturally, but I put a lot of time and effort into everything I do to the point that I do nothing else,” Gaga told Oprah. “I wake up in the morning and I basically call the Haus of Gaga all day and argue with them about what I want to do while they tell me, ‘You can’t do that. You can’t bleed to death on domestic television.’”

The new Queen of Pop gave the undisputed Queen of Daytime a pair of Jean Paul Gaultier sunglasses and a brunette hair bow. Gaga also said she prefers to be called “Gaga” as opposed to “Lady Gaga,” saying she finds it too formal when people call her “Lady.”

As we’ve said before, Lady Gaga is the busiest person in show business, so it was no surprise to us when we heard she collapsed from dehydration and exhaustion in Indiana Thursday night right before she was to go on stage.

Purdue students inside the Elliott Hall of Music at Purdue University said police escorted a spokesperson to the stage to announce the show’s cancellation after opening acts Jason DeRulo and Semi Precious Weapons performed. The reason given was she collapsed from sudden illness, later diagnosed as being caused by an irregular heart due to dehydration and exhaustion.

The college crowd, who had been looking forward to seeing Gaga, was reportedly in shock, as a lot of work had gone into preparing the theatre for her performance.

After posting the above Monster Ball Tour update on 1/15/2010, the Lady Gaga website said:

Gaga updated the world via Twitter, where she apologized and explained what happened, as follows.

First, Lady Gaga twittered: @ladygaga “I've been crying for hours, I feel like I let my fans down 2nite. An hour before the show, I was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing”

Then this: @ladygaga “Paramedics came to take care of me, and told me my heart-rate was irregular-- a result of exhaustion and dehydration”

Then this: @ladygaga “can't apologize enough for how sorry I am. I could hear my fans cheering from my dressing room, I begged everyone to let me go onstage”

And then this: @ladygaga “My stage has complicated mechanical elements, everyone was concerned I'd be in danger during the 2hr show, since I had passed out earlier.”

And then this: @ladygaga “I am so devastated. I have performed with the flu, a cold, strep throat: I would never cancel a show just based on discomfort”

And finally this: @ladygaga “I hope you can forgive me. I love my little monsters more than anything, you are everything to me. I will make-up the performance on Jan 26”

Now for the Oprah Show interview. This is the Oprah.com transcript:
In only 15 months, pop sensation Lady Gaga has become the hottest performer in music right now. She's sold 8 million records, earned six Grammy nominations and became the first artist in history to have four number one hits on a debut album. But before the costumes and chart-toppers, there was New Yorker Stefanie Joanna (sp) Angelina Germanotta.

Picture of Lady Gaga singing on Oprah with a close-up of her spiked shoulder ornament. 1-15-10 photo

Stefanie studied classical piano beginning when she was just 4 years old. By the time she reached high school, she was writing her own songs and eventually started performing in local night clubs. Only a few years later, she said goodbye to Stefanie and Lady Gaga was born.

These days, Lady Gaga says she prefers to be addressed as just Gaga. "It feels weird when people call me Lady," she says. "It's so formal."

Side photo of Lady Gaga and one of her dancers performing on Oprah. 1-15-10 picture.

The superstar says her moniker was inspired by "Radio Gaga," the song by Queen. "It was just a nickname that my friends had for me in New York and my producer, and it kind of stuck with me," she says. "It was nice having a space for myself where I could feel safe and not feel like such a freak all the time."

Picture of Lady Gaga adjusting her shoulder spikes, which kept sliding down as she sang for Oprah. 1-15-10 photo.

There's one person who took a little while to adjust to Lady Gaga's new persona: her father. When he first saw his daughter perform, Lady Gaga says she was wearing a leopard G-string and an Indian headdress at a night club with Lady Starlight. "He just thought I was completely nuts. He didn't get it," she says. "I don't know if I really got it. I just know I really wanted to do it and believed it in it. I think it was the nature of doing these sort of shock art pop cultural commentary pieces."

Back shot of Lady Gaga peforming on the Oprah Winfrey Show Friday, showing how her outfit began to unzip under the weight of the studs. 1-15-10 photo.

Lady Gaga says she still can't believe how her life has evolved. "I really feel so blessed, and every day I can't believe the amazing fans I have," she says. "I'm so lucky."

Picture of Lady Gaga being helped up on a race car by one of her dancers during her Oprah performance. 1-15-10 photo.

During her rise to fame, Lady Gaga became known for her outrageous outfits, but she says they're all designed to make a statement. At the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), she wore a red lace one-piece that covered her face, with a crown-like hat. "That's an Alexander McQueen, and I added the hat to it," she says. "It was meant to be a continuation of the VMA performance. So after the princess (Diana) had been murdered by the paparazzi, the red lace was meant to symbolize sort of my eternal martyrdom."

Photo of Lady Gaga on Oprah using her spiked ball and chain to break the window on a sports car. 1-15-10 picture.

Another headline-making costume was made entirely of Kermit the Frog puppets. "I don't like to wear fur, so it was my way of making a comment about fur because it looks like a bunch of dead Muppets," she says.

Lady Gaga says the inspiration for her outfits comes naturally. "I put a lot of time and effort into everything I do, to the point that I do nothing else," she says. "I work creatively all day."

Picture of Lady Gaga singing after sitting down at the piano on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday. 1-15-10 photo.

Lady Gaga says a typical day is spent working nonstop. "I wake up in the morning and I get on my computer and I have lists of references and reference boards with all of my materials on them, and I basically call the House of Gaga all day and argue with them about what I want to do while they tell me, 'You can't do that,'" she says. "And I say, 'Yes, I can bleed to death on domestic television if want to!' So, for me, it's all about being provocative, not just getting people's attention. It's about really saying something that affects people in a real way and a positive way."

One the biggest statements she tries to make is about fame and the media. "All the things I do in terms of Fame and The Fame Monster is meant to make it a bit easier to swallow this kind of horrific media world that we live in," she says.

Photo of Lady Gaga singing her heart out on Oprah. while playing the piano. 1-15-10 image.

Despite her stardom, Lady Gaga says she doesn't have many famous friends. "I don't really have a tremendous connection to the celebrity world," she says. "My friendships are really with my fans, and that's how I really communicate. My vision is through them and through music."

So what's the message Lady Gaga wants to send to her fan base? "I want them to free themselves, and I want them to be proud of who they are," she says. "I want them to celebrate all the things they don't like about themselves the way that I did, and to be truly happy from the inside."

The following message was posted on Oprah.com Sat 1/16/2010 by a man (avonsr05) who read the above transcript:
“At 68, a father and a grandfather, my sphincter would squeeze hard enough to crack a walnut when I would see this wild-out girl on TV. I would switch channels quicker than Superman making a phone booth clothes change, not wanting her to rub off on my grandchildren. Had it not been for my wife watching your show, I probably would have changed channels again. THANK GOD I didn't.”

Photo of Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey making like Little Monsters for the cameras at the end of The Oprah Show. Note the hair-bow and Jean Paul Gaultier sunglasses Lady Gaga gave to Oprah. 1-15-10 picture.

The man continued, “I have been guilty of judging a book by its cover and not its content. And I beg her forgiveness for that. She is truly an amazing young woman; an inspiration for the youth of this generation, full of kindness, thoughtfulness and an evolving humanity that has a spiritual center. Her message is one I have preached most of my life: Be the best you can be because you were designed by God to be a unique creation. I will sound her praise from now on and make my grand kids watch her. I thank you Oprah for introducing me to her, and for my wife's death grip on the remote. I almost missed a blessing!”

I love Oprah, as I think all she does enriches people’s lives, but the website calls her new album Little Monsters instead of The Fame Monster and has her middle name as Joanna instead of Joanne.

Lady Gaga's marriage equality benefit in Atlantic City has beenpostponed due to her illness. The LGBT activist group The Power, one of the beneficiaries, issued this press release:

We wish her rest and a full recovery. We have been assured by representatives of Lady Gaga that The Hands Up for Marriage Equality Benefit will be rescheduled soon. As soon as we have a firm date we will let you all know. Lady Gaga has been one of the hardest working people in entertainment for the past two plus years. During this time her support and advocacy for LGBT people has been unwavering. We wish Lady Gaga all the best. We will keep you informed and let you know the new date very soon. Toward full equality, Jeff Hall, Affiliate Director, The Power Online, Inc.

When it happens, Lady Gaga will host the benefit in the House of Blues at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Lady Gaga has always been an outspoken supporter of LGBT equality, joining the call for full civil rights protections for LGBT people at the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. last October and declaring her opposition to all homophobia and sexism in the music industry. “I am honored to be able to continue to raise awareness and money for this cause and these outstanding organizations,” she said. “Organizations like these are in the trenches every day working on behalf of all of us, whether you are LGBT or straight. Equal and full civil rights are supposed to be for all of us.”

“We are thrilled to be a part of this event,” Pride Agenda Executive Director Alan van Capelle said. “Lady Gaga has been a passionate, outspoken ally to LGBT people, and she’s a great example of how celebrities can use their popularity to help secure equal rights for millions of Americans. We also thank Harrah’s Entertainment, which is clearly setting the bar high in its industry by being a model employer for LGBT people and by taking a public stand in support of legislation that improves the lives of LGBT Americans.”

The Daily Tribune in Detroit wrote a rave review of Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour Concert on Jan 12, 2010, along with a nice interview of Lady Gaga, portions of which follow:

Lady Gaga has some advice for the millions of fans who have glommed on to her rocket of a career. Pay attention!

“It’s almost like I grow more rapidly as an artist than people can keep up with, if that makes any sense,” says the 23-year-old pop provocateur. “So by the time you’re reading an interview or you’re watching a television performance, I’m already, like, years beyond, creatively, in the world somewhere.

“That can be confusing for people, I think,” Lady Gaga said. “There can be a slight disconnect from what I proclaim about my music and what people are hearing and seeing. But that’s OK; I’d rather be ahead than behind, and people seem to be keeping up, which I’m very grateful for.”

There’s no question Gaga—who ranked No. 3 on Billboard’s list of top artists for 2009—has been in the front car of a nonstop thrill ride for the past year-and-a-half. Her debut album, The Fame, has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide—just more than 2 million of those in the U.S.—since its August 2008 release and launched a pair of No. 1 singles, “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.” The latter was the most downloaded song in Great Britain since the Official UK Charts Company began measuring five years ago. Meanwhile, Gaga’s The Fame Monster, a re-release of The Fame with eight new tracks, debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart in November.

She won three MTV Video Music Awards in September, including Best New Artist, received a Rising Star prize from Billboard and was among Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2009.” And though blanked at the American Music Awards, Gaga is nominated for five Grammys, including Album, Record and Song of the Year.

The success makes her feel “a little bit like a pop music miracle,” but Gaga isn’t necessarily shocked that things have gone so well. “I’m very, very grateful,” she notes, “but I’m not surprised, ’cause it’s a good album.”

Another recently released photo by Meeno. I'm not sure who the band is, but they're all mighty pretty! Archival image.

The Gaga phenomenon is about more than just the music, however. Her notoriety comes from both what she does and how she does it. Like Madonna and other chameleonesque pop culture heroes before her, Gaga specializes in creating mystery and sensation, with a parameter-pushing fashion sensibility (which landed her on People magazine’s Best and Worst Dressed lists) and an avant-garde performing style.

“What I’ve learned is that you really don’t need to be a celebrity or have money or have the paparazzi following you around to be famous—you just declare your own fame and go with it,” explains Gaga, who wrote songs for Britney Spears, Fergie, the Pussycat Dolls and New Kids on the Block before releasing The Fame.

“I think that’s always what drew people to me. I think what made it difficult for people to get and still makes it difficult for people to get is the theatrical nature of the work and the fact that, truthfully, my music doesn’t exist without the performance art element—and performance art is notoriously nerdy and uncomfortable, but it makes people pay attention.”

Photo of singer Sam Tsui and Kurt Hugo on guitar peforming a medley of Lady Gaga hits. His YouTube video is getting a lot of buzz on the Internet. Scroll down to watch it! Video capture picture.

She doesn’t deny her sources in that regard, either.
“It’s always been a result of people around me saying, ‘Oh, that’s so very (David) Bowie of you. That’s very Queen of you. That’s very Warhol of you. That’s quite Madonna of you,’ ” acknowledges Gaga, who’s also parried away a slew of rumors, including one that she’s a hermaphrodite. “Then I say, ‘Ah, Warhol … ’ and I go into my Warhol file and I do research and then I make more music and I design more shows.“It’s like a constantly feeding your brain kind of thing and using that to get new ideas.”

“I look at music-making and becoming an artist the same way an infant becomes a toddler,” Gaga explains. “A baby learns to refine its abilities and get older and mature, and so does an artist. And at some point, I thought that the smartest way to think about writing music and designing a stage show is to say to myself, ‘What do I want to listen to?’ and, second, ‘What would I go out and see or hear that would make me really jealous if I didn’t think of it first?’ Those are the two paramount questions that I follow.”

Picture of one of the high shcool students in a new Lady Gaga parody video of "Bad Romance" called "Badder Romance," which Lady Gaga took notice of. She tweeted the YouTube address and said simply, "Holy shit!" Watch the video at the bottom of this page. Video capture photo.

The future is on Gaga’s mind these days, too. She’s been writing songs for the next album — “It’s not smart to wait until the world is hovering with breath that is bated and you feel the pressure,” she says—but there are ventures beyond music that are commanding her attention, too. “I would move into directing at some point, and more fashion design,” says Gaga, who now resides in Los Angeles because “the music industry’s dead in New York. I know that Hollywood was the place where I could really move mountains.”

But the mountains will stay in place for the time being. “I’m really focused on this (tour) right now,” Gaga says. “But I’m always thinking of things and hatching crazy ideas, so I’m sure I’ll come up with something that pushes the envelope again. You can count on it.”

Brit Awards 2010 posted the following on their site this afternoon, January 18, 2010: “Reflecting diversity, the line-up is led by US sensation, the uncompromising and unpredictable Lady Gaga plus pop chart toppers JLS and UK rockers Kasabian bringing their highly acclaimed new sound to the BRITs stage. One of the most anticipated moments is sure to be the collaboration between grime-master Dizzee Rascal and last year’s Critics’ Choice winner Florence Welch (aka Florence & The Machine). Add to this amazing line-up 2010’s ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music’ winner Robbie Williams, who will close the show with his usual panache, and the BRITs-30 show piece is shaping up to be one of the most exciting nights yet. More acts performing on the bill will be announced shortly.”

The 30th Annual Brit Awards post continued, “Having conquered the US, Lady Gaga stormed the UK, producing 2009’s biggest selling single of the year – ‘Poker Face.’ The single, along with ‘Just Dance’ were number one hits around the world earning Lady Gaga numerous coveted Grammy nominations and securing her debut album The Fame at the top spot in four countries. Capping a breathtaking year, Lady Gaga will make her solo BRITs appearance on Tuesday 16 February following last year’s featured appearance with Outstanding Contribution to Music Award recipients, the Pet Shop Boys.”

As noted above, 2010 will mark a second appearance at the Brits for Lady Gaga. In 2009 she accompanied the Pet Shop Boys who won Outstanding Contribution to Music. Lady Gaga took the stage with electronic dance music duo Pet Shop Boys. Also joined by The Killers' vocalist Brandon Flowers, they did a medley of several songs that included Dusty Springfield's 1989 single "Nothing Has Been Proved.” You can watch Lady Gaga’s collaboration performance at the 2009 Brit Awards Show in a video at the base of this page, along with interviews of the rising star before and after the broadcast! When she plays at Earls Court in London this year, she will perform solo, as the English seem to have learned she warrants their full attention!

Watch this 2010 Brit Awards Report from the UK network, itn, which will air the show on February 16, 2010:

Although Lady Gaga fans are ecstatic about her three nominations for the 2010 UK Brit Awards, the Facebook page for the Brit Awards is filled with angry messages from Take That fans, upset that the band was completely snubbed. I guess it’s kind of like the way we felt when out lesbian Jane Lynch was robbed of best supporting actress last night on the Golden Globe Awards! Another performer who won’t be celebrating is global star Susan Boyle, who was also shut out in the nominations. There is a rumor floating around the Internet that Gaga wants to perform a duet with Boyle, but so far no confirmation has been forthcoming.

Enjoy the following videos. Please note we have gone to a lot of trouble to upload most of them to Blogger to insure they won’t be deleted. Although we love her, Oprah’s henchmen are notorious for blocking content from her show after a few days on YouTube. Apparently, they don’t understand the value of free publicity. We like to keep our archives in order for our readers’ continued pleasure!

UPDATE! January 20, 2010. Blogger video problem! The following "Blogger Status"announcement appeared late last night from Blogger.com: “Users are experiencing problems playing videos in Blogger blogs. We are investigating and will send an update when fixed.”

Wouldn’t you know this would happen right after I publish an article with “Intact Videos” in the title! I am placing YouTube videos above my Blogger vids until this problem is fixed. Please be aware they may be deleted at any time by Harpo Productions. I apologize for this horrible inconvenience!

We'd also like to apologize to our subscribers for this video arriving in their mailboxes a day late. Blogger and Feedburner gave us problems yesterday concerning the size of our posts. It seems they like articles to be short and sweet, while we prefer 'em long and hot! In any case, we've ironed out the problem without compromising our commitment to bring you large amounts of unedited information. As my Grandmother and Rosanadana used to say, "If it's not one thing, it's another . . .."

Tomorrow we will bring you Adam Lambert's appearance on Oprah, complete with a bunch of non-Blogger videos and a ton of awesome photos. Thank you all for your patience!

UPDATE! 1-21-10. Blogger videos seem to be working okay again (after a day and a half), although you'd never know it from their Blogger Status Website, where there is no mention of a fix. UPDATE! 2-2-10. Just as we predicted, Harpo Productions has blocked the YouTube videos of Lady Gaga on Oprah, so we are grateful we had the foresight to upload the appearance to Blogger. Enjoy!

Lady Gaga's DJ pal Space Cowboy (aka Nick Destri) has had a busy year. Not only did he jet around the world for months together with Lady Gaga, he also co-wrote "Monster" and "So Happy I Could Die" with her and RedOne for her latest album CD, The Fame Monster. He also released his own album, Digital Rock Star, a dance party record. As a tribute to some of the people that inspired him, Space Cowboy just released a very special EP that features remixes of songs from "Digital Rock Star." The producer invited some of the mavericks of '80s electronic music, including Howard Jones, Thomas Dolby and Erasure's Vince Clarke, to give his tunes a spin of their own. Listen to their revamps below. After all of those years, these three still have a fine knack for adding an eclectic flair to contemporary pop tunes. We especially like Vince Clarke's bouncy remix of "Falling Down," and we must say the Howard Jones remix of "Devastated" is reminiscent of a Lady Gaga hit. You can tell it comes from the same production house.
