October 18, 2009.
From Richard Nixon to Dick Cheney, from winning elections to waging war, Republicans have always unabashedly demonstrated their twisted belief that they need to “win by any means possible,” because “the means justifies the end.” After all, God is on their side! Right? Wroooooooooooong! Gay-bashing, lying, cheating, and preaching hate are not Godly values!

Photo of Rep Joe Wilson (R-SC), who made headlines when he interrupted Obama’s September 9 address to a joint session of Congress, by yelling, “You lie!” because, he later claimed, “Illegal aliens could get the benefits . . . the subsidies.” Politifact has shown this itself to be a lie.
Now, at last, the brilliant folks at wakingupnow.com have made a video exposing these Bible-thumping bigots! Exploring the decidedly unsympathetic and compassion-free conservatives’ so-called logic, the website states:

Photo of Rep Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), who had the racist audacity to call Michelle Obama “uppity.”

“I’m sure all politicians careen between saying what they believe and spouting whatever crap will get them elected," wakingupnow.com says. "But it seems like Republicans have adopted a universal strategy of popular deceit, and if they speak truth, it’s only by coincidence. Here’s the pattern I’ve seen:

→Toss out a slew of outrageous lies
→Watch for one to capture the public’s imagination.
→Turn it into jargon (‘death panel’) that sticks in voters’ heads.
→Step back from the lie when it’s debunked, and craft a milder (still dishonest) version. But keep the original jargon.
→Repeat as necessary. Debunkers eventually move on to tackle some new lie, leaving the last version in place and the jargon established.”
Photo of Rep Mark Kirk (R-IL), who told Chinese officials not to believe budget numbers released by the US government.
As a shining example, the website profiles a particularly deceitful politician from Texas: “If you want to suggest smacking around your wife doesn’t truly count as assault, and neither does killing homosexuals, listen to Rep Louie Gohmert (R-TX)." Gohmert, who thinks stiffer penalties for anti-gay hate crimes are a threat to our freedom, is pictured at the top of this post. Photo of Rep Michele Bachman (R-MN), who has made no secret of her belief that wives should be submissive to husbands, recently stated that swine flu only rages during Democratic administrations even though the other outbreak she mentions was under Ford, not Carter. She also had the gall to call Obama “anti-American” last year.
Here’s the revealing and sadly hilarious video: Republicans: There’s a Rep for That!:

Watch this vintage video of Michelle Bachmann telling the world she is a “Fool for Christ,” and that she wants to save the world from the horrors of gay marriage (from
