Lady Gaga changed outfits more often than a drag queen at an Imperial Court function last night during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Although her thunder was stolen by Diva Kanye West, who ripped the mic out of Taylor Swift’s hands during her Best Female Video acceptance speech, after which he sang the praises of Beyonce (much to Beyonce’s horror), Lady Gaga still shined.

Kanye West, who was escorted out of the VMAs after his uncool outburst, is scheduled to perform on the premiere of Jay Leno's prime-time show tonight and it should prove to be verrrrrrrrrry interesting! I can’t wait to hear what Kanye has to say, even though he’s already offered a lame apology on his website (see photo of his blog post at the bottom of this column).

Host “comic” Russell Brand addressed “hateful false rumors” that Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite (The PC term is Intersex, by the way), stating that she is courageous enough to state publicly she's bisexual and that “If you haven’t worked it out by now, yeah I’m trying to f*** her.”

Sometimes less is more, a lesson lost on Brand, who carried on with this gem: "If I pull her leotard to one side and find something a little extra there, I will just make it stiff and hang my hat on it." Lady Gaga was shown cracking up (pun intended) in the audience, but I think the joke was a bit tasteless.

Now a certified superstar, Lady Gaga always tries to outdo herself. During her live performance of “Paparazzi,” a track from her best-selling Love Game album, she ended up "bloody" and hanging like a corpse. Watch the entire performance in the video at the bottom of this post.

Gaga won three awards during the Radio City Music Hall ceremony, including “Best Special Effects,” “Best Art Direction,” and the crème de la crème, “Best New Artist.” During her acceptance speech for the latter, she wore a lacy red outfit complete with spiked crown and a tight facial veil. After ripping off the veil and crown, she thanked “God and the gays."
