The Hate Crimes bill is finally being debated in the Senate after passing the House last year 249 to 175. Attorney General Eric Holder testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday.

“The President and I both urge swift passage of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act,” he said. “This is a bill that is designed to prosecute and hold people accountable for conduct, not infringe on speech."
