PETA OUTRAGED OVER OBAMA FLY KILLING! T.R. KNIGHT'S BOYFRIEND PRESSURED HIM TO LEAVE GREY'S ANATOMY! PHOTOS and MORE!

June 18, 2009
It appears the President can’t catch a break lately! As a lifelong but grounded animal lover, I’m already familiar with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and their over the top take on animal rights, but the cult’s current criticism of President Obama’s dead-on swatting of an irritating fly during a recent interview demonstrates to the world that the organization is filled with nut-balls. PETA just issued a statement saying, they “support compassion for the smallest of creatures” and that “swatting a fly indicates he (Obama) is not perfect.” PETA! PETA! PETA! Enough, already! You need to stop wasting time on trivia and get to work on what really matters— fighting cruelty against the wives of Republican politicians!

Speaking of Obama, the news wires are awash with articles about the President finally reaching out to the LGBT community in an attempt to apply damage control to an increasingly irate constituency on the verge of mutiny. Because there is so much information to digest, I’ll devote an entire post to the issue later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Photo of Kathy Griffin and Bette Midler on My Life on the D-List: Place Your Bette

Congratulations to Kathy Griffin for attracting one million viewers to the premier of this year’s My Life on the D-List Season 5: Place Your Bette. Apparently it was the most highly rated Monday night original series episode ever for the Bravo network, up 19% over last year. Keep up the good work, Kathy! In case you’re not familiar with her work—virtually impossible if you’re a card-carrying homosexual male or female fag hag—Kathy is most definitely an acid-tongued gay man trapped in the body of a totally uninhibited redheaded woman!

T-Pain and Taylor Swift as T-Swizzle in comedy routine on 2009 CMT Music Awards photo

Am I the only one that found it strange when the B-52s showed up on the 2009 CMT Music Awards to sing “Love Shack”? Don’t get me wrong; I totally dig the song, but country it ain’t! ‘Twas nearly as weird watching 19 year-old rising country star Taylor Swift rap as “T-Swizzle” with T-Pain and then do metal rock with Def Leopard. What the hell is going on with country anyway? Did they run of double entendres to write about? Or did they just tire of flag waving?

I apologize to the readers who were disappointed when they couldn’t find my headlined story in yesterday’s post about the 9/11 terrorist mastermind lying to the CIA to get them to stop torturing him. I inadvertently left the commentary out, but have since reinserted it. If you would like to read the article, here’s a link to the page.

Judy Garland and Anne Hathaway comparison photos

Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway (of Brokeback Mountain and so much more) talked about her upcoming role as the legendary Judy Garland on The View this morning. The 26 year-old actress, also an accomplished singer/dancer, has been signed to star in both the film and stage adaptations of Gerald Clarke's 2000 biography Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland. Hathaway said, "I think I’m either naive or insane to play her — maybe a little bit of both," but expressed confidence that she’s up to the task of playing the gay icon. She also said she intends to consult with Judy’s daughter, Liza Minelli, a living legend in her own right.

Producer Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, which hired her, issued this statement: "We are thrilled to have the brilliantly talented Anne Hathaway portray stage and screen legend Judy Garland. I have worked with Anne on projects in the past and have known her for many years. She will be a true class act in this challenging role."

The book is based on hundreds of interviews plus Garland's own unpublished autobiography, which encases both childhood and adult years until her untimely death in 1969 at 47. At the time coroner Gavin Thursdon stated that the cause of her demise was "an incautious self-overdosage of barbiturates.” You can buy the paperback version of Get Happy at
Amazon.com for $12.24. Do you believe it’s been 70 years since Judy starred in the groundbreaking Wizard of Oz (1939)? Time flies when you have to spend your whole life fighting discrimination. Thank God for Liza is all I’ve gotta say.

Boyfriend Mark Cornelsen and T.R. Knight having dinner, February 2008 photo

After telling the Grey's Anatomy producers he wanted to leave, openly gay T.R. Knight has been officially written off the show. Apparently, like friend and co-star Katherine Hiegl, he wasn't happy with his character's story line. Tabloids also claim the 36-year-old actor was peeved about his scarcity of screen time, but word in the gay bars has it that T.R.’s 20 year-old boyfriend of less than two years, collegian Mark Cornelsen, had been pressuring him to move on to bigger and better things, i.e. the movies. Apparently unbeknown to Mark, Knight has already starred in two—Garmento in 2003 and Last Request in 2006, the latter of which I just saw on Comedy Central. It was hilarious! T.R. also lent his voice to the new animated movie, Pete's a Pizza ... and More Kid Stories! recently released on DVD. Methinks the man was daft for leaving his cushy job on Grey’s Anatomy, but then what am I but a fan? I was unable to find any upcoming plans for the attractive thespian, but I wish him well and hope to see him again soon—preferably without his cute but oh-so-young and pushy boyfriend!

Gay hate crimes continue to grow, thanks in large part to homophobic religions worldwide that consciously and/or unwittingly validate extreme prejudice. The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs says the number of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) people killed in “anti-gay bias incidents” increased by 28 percent in 2008 over 2007, according to an Associated Press story in Philly.com Tuesday. That makes last year's 29 killings the highest since 1999.

MySpace just fired 400 of its personnel, a full 30% of its workforce, in a desperate attempt to save money because of falling visitor numbers and a decline in advertising income. As a further slap in the you know what, Facebook now outranks them in hits. MySpace’s management has been under realignment since April, when its owner, News Corp, replaced CEO founder, Chris DeWolfe, with former Facebook executive Owen Van Natta. There’s just too damned many of these look-alike websites vying for position on the Internet, if you ask me. And frankly, my dear, I don’t give a tweet about any of them.

Forgive me for what is perhaps my own naivete, but you refer to Miss Garland as a gay icon. I've never heard her referred to as such. Could you elaborate?

Anjalique: Judy Garland is a gay icon simply because she is revered by the gay community--big time!
